Local Bookshops

The Riverside Bookshop

15, Hay's Galleria, Tooley St, London SE1 2QN, UK – 020 7378 1824

Great bookshop with a large range of stock, impressive considering how small the place looks. Staff leave you to browse, none of that false helpfulness that is the norm. But, if you need help or recommendations, they're quick to help you. One of the gems within an increasingly uniform area.

Small, but that is a factor of rents in the area. Very good selection of travel books upstairs, and general fiction on the ground floor.

Libreria Bookshop

65 Hanbury St, London E1 5JP, UK

Great selection of books for browsing. Staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. There are a few chairs for checking books more closely or allowing your shopping companion to relax while you browse. They also run classes and occasional events. Lovely atmosphere and highly recommended.

Love the atmosphere and design. Was surprised they play aphex twin in the bookstore... Good match with the ambient techno tho !

Blackwell's Bookshop

50-51 High Holborn, London WC1V 6EP, UK – 020 7292 5100

This is an interesting combination of bookshop and coffee bar at the rear. The bookshop was smaller than expected but there was a seating area in the coffee area. There is free wi-fi available.

Great bookshop with helpful staff. Big business section downstairs and usually a good 3 for 2 selection of bestsellers. They also have quite a few author events here.
