Cyclestreets.net is a brilliant little website for bicyclists. Just enter where you are and where you want to go and it will take you a proper cyclists route, tell you the distance, how quiet or otherwiseit will be and how many calories you will burn completing it.
This is extraordinary. You can actually choose a route to avoid unnecessary hills. Excellent for the part-time cyclist!

Evans Cycles

77-81 The Cut, Waterloo, London SE1 8LL, UK – 020 7928 4785

Dear Evans - so many 1 star reviews says a lot, so I have decided to purchase my new bike somewhere else. Reviews matters - best to take note.

Walked in there with the intention of booking a service for his bicycle.... he decided to buy tyres. Tyres were pricey and he asked for a deal... they did a search for his tyres on the net, found exact same ones which were at a cheaper price and price matched them. Result! The sign in there gave me the giggles

Cycle Surgery

12-13 Bishops Square, London E1 6EG, UK – 020 7392 8920

This is one of the best cycle stores for me because the staff are always friendly and helpful and they listen carefully what customers say...

Go here! Not other cycle shops nearby *cough* The staff here have helped me no end; teaching me how to change a tire, buying in new pedals, always helping if I have a bit rattling off my bike and NEVER have they been patronising, ignorant or oversold anything to me or been pushy. A lot of work they have done for free; they have won my custom for years to come!

Cycle Surgery

72 Chiswell St, London EC1Y 4AB, UK – 020 7562 8500

i found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. the store has a good range of products from bikes to accessories and i was able to find what i wanted quickly and easily. it can get quite busy over lunch time so i try to go outside of these times if i need any actual help or advice.

Turned up on Sunday morning 5 June, after a phone call about a Trek Bike they had on offer on their website. So sorry I can't remember the name of the guy who was there and was incredibly helpful in ensuring that the bike was as good a fit as he could say for me personally. After riding it around the local streets my husband and I were happy that it was indeed a great buy. He gave us so much help and support, that we were very happy to take it home immediately. I have since had a couple of good, long rides on it and I am very very pleased. Thank you so much. Highly recommend their service.

On Your Bike

The Vaults, Montague Cl, London SE1 9DA, UK – 020 7378 6669

My wife and I hired bicycles for a charity ride June 9-10. Given the terrorist attack at London Bridge, and the resultant area closure, we were unable to get our bikes from the Onyourbike shop as planned. However, even with their London Bridge shop closed, the staff worked to get us 2 bicycles and stage them at Evan's Cycle. They worked with returning inventory and provided a excellent customer experience under very difficult circumstances. The bicycles provided successfully, and unfailingly carried us to Amsterdam. My wife and I are extremely grateful and very happy the shop has now reopened.

Very professional hire service. I hired a Trek Emonda 105 thru the London Bridge shoppe for 3 days and cycled to Box Hill for some training rides. The staff we very helpful and fit my cleats and pedals, seat height perfectly. the bike was in great shape and never let me down once during the time I had the bike. I would highly recommend this shop for cycle hire if visiting London.
