London Persian Rescue

St Johns Estate, Tower Bridge Rd, London SE1 2XE, UK – 020 7403 7907

I have just adopted my second cat from Barbara. Had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Barbara phoned me back straight away when I emailed her enquiring about a cat both times and was very helpful and thorough in all aspects of the adoption process. I was able to come and meet both cats before deciding to adopt and Barbara offered lots of very helpful advice. Both cats were fully vet checked, vaccinated and microchipped and most importantly were very happy. All the cats are £150 which you donate online to the charity. This rescue is all about the cats and their welfare and is not about the money as some comments suggest. Barbara does a fantastic job and you can tell she really cares about all the cats in her care and really goes out of her way to ensure their health and happiness. I would thoroughly recommend London Persian rescue to anyone looking to adopt a cat. Thanks Barbara for everything you do and carry on the good work!

Barbara puts her time, heart and soul into the charity. She found my last two Persians for me and had become a personal friend. She is often abused by those who think a cat is an accessory and she will never home to people considered unsuitable however much they hassle and give spiteful bad reviews. Look at the rescue stories on the website to see how happy good knowledgele owners are. With LOR cats come first!!

Good training location with good transport links and catering. Need to sort out their air conditioning.

Good place for meetings. Quiet setting. Good sized rooms. Walkable from King's Cross station. Only problem is that female toilets are surprisingly scarce.

We were there for a workshop event and the whole venue experience was very good. The facilities are excellent. The food is delicious. I was particularly impressed with the way staff cleared away the lunch things. I have been in plenty of other venues where they do this apparently unaware that people are trying to hold discussions nearby. On two occasions at NCVO the staff have cleared away silently! It's an indication of the care they put into their service.

Good for booking training and conferences. Especially medium size 10-50 people

A great resource for the local community

Strange place. Once you're in there's no direction.

Oxfam Bookshop

48 Upper St, London N1 0PN, UK – 020 7359 6020

All bookshops are fantastic, this one benefits from being close to work and less expensive than high Street. Plus money goes to a good cause.

This is basically like a good secondhand book shop, but all the profits go to Oxfam for good work elsewhere. They have a well organised and diverse selection, better than any other charity shop I've been to.
