Cafes, Tearooms & Snack Bars around London

The Espresso Room

31-35 Great Ormond St, London WC1N 3HZ, UK – 07478 183183

Multiple visits to this little coffee shop have confirmed my initial impressions. Attention to detail, friendly & competent staff but most importantly, consistently high level coffee. I've not tried the pastries and snacks but it all looks delicious and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

Espresso Room is quite a fitting name, the place is tiny and one has a couple of sitting options, so it's more of a take away place, but in summer there are a couple of additional loungers outside, but don't let this put you off. The time I went there the owner who's a super friendly and vastly knowledgable person (about all things coffee) made me the most amazing cup of single estate espresso that is still in my mind to this day. I even bought a bag of this variety of beans to try to replicate at home and the price tag was well justified. For sure it instantly made it's way into my all time favourite espresso bars. If you are looking for a espresso experience, this should certainly be on your list of places to try!

Bea’s of Bloomsbury

83 Watling St, London EC4M 9BX, UK – 020 7989 4099

there are good english breakfast. at 1st floor, Many kinds of breads looks pretty lovely and their smell is good. I went about 10:00, and there are some groups who looks ladies group, asset mangement company's persons.. basically, there are not noisy, you will spend good time.

A Londoner ten years, I shouldn't have been surprised by the cost of pretty average cake and hot drinks for three in the City, but £18 was a lot. Particularly as this included a warm milk for a small child. I realise children are few and far between in this part of town, and I know this will make me sound a bit entitled, but it was a pity to discourage parents by charging full hot drink prices for something that is often very cheap or even free in other cafes. Cakes were pretty but not out of the ordinary in taste or looks. Coffee was weak. Seat cushions were grubby and decor generally a bit tired. Bea's used to be a stand-out indie but now it feels like the sort of chain you'd find airside at Gatwick. All of this averageness was tempered by outstandingly charming service, so I can only apologise that I didn't have change for a tip and didn't think of adding it to my card payment in time. Sorry chaps; you were the best bit!

The Coffee Room

6A Grove Rd, London E3 5AX, UK – 020 3489 2140

Cosy cafe with great coffee and a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Will definitely stop by again when in the area.

Great food and coffee. Lovely people. Small place but nicely decorated. Just what Mile End needs!

Great British Fish and Chips

Westminster Bridge Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 7PB, UK – 020 7928 3019

Well organized and friendly staffs. There are takeaways and service guides to table, but You have to order by yourself by front desk. Very good and fresh fish and chips, and spicy chicken. 😋But the the black coffee was Not good at all, so don’t drink black coffee there🤨

Nice food tho bit pricey. But still tasted good. Makes a change I guess from Mac d's or the other restaurants around. Great for a quick bite to eat if your coming to see all the iconic sites around. Like big Ben. London Eye. Royal Festival hall. Staff were nice. Did get a table but we were lucky. As it does get busy. Nice artwork inside on the walls. Pictures of the iconic London landmarks. Great views out of the window too. Definitely worth trying if you want something quick or different from burgers or sit down fancy restaurant. Thanks Mac.

Josef Fish Bar

Petty Wales, St Katharine's & Wapping, London EC3N 4EE, UK – 020 7738 7738

Great fish and chips, even if the food was made a few minutes before we came so it was not super fresh. Would come again.

Great fish and chips and cheap launch

Poppies Fish & Chips, Spitalfields

6-8 Hanbury St, London E1 6QR, UK – 020 7247 0892

Fish and chips were delicious. Crispy and excellent batter. Order one plate and share; they're humongous! Service was flaky -- we ordered an appetizer and a side and neither ever showed up at our table. We were actually thankful for this as we ordered two plates of fish and chips and weren't even able to finish those. They are very pushy about ordering quickly (we had just sat down and literally opened our menus when they asked us for our orders) but this is to keep their tables turning over in reasonable time. Worth the stop for tasty fish and chips!

Poppies does fish and chips. Do you want some fish deep fried, then come here. They have a limited selection of types of fish, though this is not a bad thing. It means they pick their fish and have consistency with their process. The meals are big, I ordered the "normal" which was more than enough for me.

Sandwich Bars, Deliveries & Lunchtime Snack Outlets around London

Porters Sandwich Bar

55 Black Prince Rd, Lambeth, London SE11 6AB, UK – 020 7735 2737

Amazing quality sandwich bar and great fantastic lovely service highly recommend this place

Really friendly staff, great sandwich selection. So much cheaper than everywhere else in the area and better quality food

Silvios Quality Sandwich Bar

58 Paul St, London EC2A 4LN, UK – 020 7739 7008

Silvios Paul Street is one of three Silvios in London selling sanwiches, jacket potatoes, snacks and salads with a focus on take away and catering. The interior is dominated by a large refrigator unit that is used to showcase the sandwiches of the day and a salad bar unit. There is very limited counter space making Silvios a take away spot. The service is friendly and efficient. The price is in line with the local area with the ciabatta sandwiches being best value relative to portion size. The sandwiches are average at best and on the dry side - due to the over toasting and lack of a base sauce on the bread. While there is a fresh stock of sandwich ingreidents, the salad bar has a limited choice and the ingredients do not look fresh outside of Mondays.

Good filling sandwiches. Friendly service.

Berni's Sandwich Bar

249 Goswell Rd, London EC1V 7JD, UK – 020 7278 5694

Always beautiful well prepared food. Love it

Great breakfasts with healthy options available. Nice corner cafe with limited space but good anyway

Chinese Takeaways

5 Lever St, Clerkenwell, London EC1V 3QU, UK – 020 7251 5386

Good for fried rice or something simple like that. I can’t recommend any of the dishes, though; I’ve always been disappointed.

Unfortunately the main issue for me is they don't accept card. The food is usually fine, I do not anything other than the Pork Fried Rice and curry sauce or Chicken Satay skewers.

Thames Take Away

140 Tanner St, London SE1 2HG, UK – 020 7237 3360

Excellent place! The food is great and really cheap. The quality of the food is up to par and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend it and especially the Deep Fried Shredded Beef with Chilli. 10/10

First visit of 2018 was a ice surprise, prices lowered and quality much improved; prawns full of flavour, sweet and sour chicken superior to most Gerrard Street restaurants. Only let down was the crab and sweet corn soup which was completely tasteless.

Bing Chinese Takeaway

202 Manor Pl, London SE17 3BN, UK – 020 7277 0452

Food was Good, hot and fast. Woman who served me polite. Would order again if was in area, delivered to my room.

Lovely food & perfect customer service

Indian Takeaways

Shahi Tandoori

77 Grange Rd, London SE1 3BW, UK – 020 7231 5015

Ordered a meal from Shahi last night as they were close to the hotel I was staying in. I was a bit anxious after reading the reviews but once the meal arrived I was really surprised it was piping hot with a wonderful aroma and one of the best curries I have tasted in a long while. The Lamb Biryani was excellent. I'll definitely be ordering from them again when I'm back in London. As the saying goes can't judge a book by its cover.

Can't knock this place, staying in London on a business trip and ordered a takeaway to my hotel. Food was really tasty! Had a chicken Madras and I wish this place was around the corner from where I lived! 5/5

Takeaway Food

5-6 Moorgate, London EC2M 6XB, UK – 020 7374 2094

Nice clean welcoming foyer. We had coffee and cake there and bought salads to take away. The attentive staff gave me advice on the best 'soft product' for my mother. As the lady realised that we were snacking in house and then taking other products away she kept them refrigerated and asked me to just remind her when we were on our way out. Prices are reasonable considering the products. Really impressed with the staff!

Friendly staff, great food, affordable prices and a nice clean atmosphere. I've lived here for about a month and this has quickly become my go to place. The food arrives fast and it's located nearby the station so it's great for just grabbing something on the go. The quality is consistent and this place has never let me down. 10/10 would recommend this place to a friend. (Also they have a good taste in music 🎶)

86 Cannon St, London EC4N 6HT, UK – 020 7623 9699

Nice place to grab lunch. Very healthy options. Bit pricey for what it offers but is very nice. My favourite would always be chicken Sicilian balls. Very filling. Can't always make sure you will have a place to sit though. Is quite a busy branch so despite lots of seats there are lots of footprints.

Had a wonderful experience at cannon Street leon on Monday evening there were two lovely servers I was was served by a very welcoming young lady. The food came really quite quickly and tasted fantastic I got a Korean burger. It was absolutely delicious 100% recommended with a portion of the scrumptious baked fries. The server was fantastic and offered me a variety of sauces with my fries. Overall was a great experience would highly recommend to people who like naturally fast food.

73-76 Strand, London WC2R 0DE, UK – 020 7240 3070

This leon has limited seating but the food is great and service fast. Meals are good value here and it is popular because of its proximity to the Theatres and Covent Garden. We'll worth visiting.

Quick service, great quality food at a reasonable price! Definitely the healthiest and tastiest fast food option.
