Cinemas around London

Backyard Cinema

42 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6DR, UK – 020 3773 9075

I loved seeing The Holiday at Backyard Cinema! Attendees enter a few at a time through a wardrobe with a door man. The wardrobe leads you through a wooded tunnel donned with stringed lights and opens into a a whimsical cinema filled comfortable couches, blankets at each seat, and a decorated consession stand with drinks and snacks. The tent was pleasantly heated, although it wasn't communicated and so many attendees wore layers expecting to be freezing. The staff inside were very organized and systematic with seating guests. Tickets are not cheap, but are appropriately priced considering how unique this experience is. I told all of my friends about this experience and highly recommend others to try this! Book in advance because most of the dates sell out in November!

Since I first saw advertised this a few years back I had always wanted to go, then last night my husband had surprised me with the date night package and it did not disappoint!!! Everything from the friendly and helpful staff (especially the doorman with the beard and lady on front desk) to the stunning decor and comfortable seating was just perfect. When the choir came out and the gentleman began the show it was just the cherry on the cake. I have loved every backyard cinema event that I have been to, but this one was on another level.

Angel Central, 36 Parkfield St, London N1 0PS, UK – 0345 308 4620

A decent cinema complex conveniently located right near Angel station. Offers a mix of current mainstream films and one or two more artistic/independent films for a bit of cultural balance.

Decent theatre, not particularly clean (sticky dried soda on armrest and seat), but screen quite large for London.

Genesis Cinema

93-95 Mile End Rd, London E1 4UJ, UK – 020 7780 2000

Studio 5 was perfect setting to watch a film as long as last (?) Star wars. A sofa where sit / lie comfortably (wow), a table for food and drinks you order and a cube to place your leg up for 2 hours and half, amazing!! There is also a bar service, staff is friendly and the toilet are funny. The price for the seat is the average cinema price. You can book online the charge is £1. Great place I've yo return back

Amazing cinema with great service. Loved the luxury screen. The only way to watch a movie... on a comfy sofa sharing a bottle of wine with a friend. The surrounding area can feel a little intimidating but it's quite safe. Nice menu of cocktails as well to enjoy before the movie.

Theatres for London

Delfont Mackintosh Theatres

5 Aldwych, London WC2B 4LD, UK – 0844 482 5138

Great theatre, great stuff! Too bad my daughter and I could not fully enjoy the show (Mamma Mia) for some rude and abnoxious girls behinds us who talked the whole time. There were many announcements about cell phones and photos, perhaps something should be mentioned about staying quite as well, although those ignorant girls would have probably ignored it anyway.

Mamma Mia is a spectacular show!

Fortune Theatre Box Office

Russell St, London WC2B 5HH, UK – 0844 871 7626

Great show

The Courtyard

40 Pitfield St, London N1 6EU, UK – 020 7729 2202

Great family day out and the staff there are very friendly

Went to see Craig Finn here. Small basement venue for gigs, understand there was only 200 tickets on sale. I suspect your view of the venue will be influenced by how good the gig is, Craig Finn was superb and we had a great time. Basement venue is small, intimate, hot and sweaty...just how a gig is suooised to be! Bar was small and cosy, but had a good selection of beer, including some interesting bottled beers.
