Banks

Bank Of Ireland Corporate Banking

Bow Bells House, 1 Bread St, London EC4M 9BE, UK – 020 7236 2000

Always been a fabulous bank even though I've had no branch for 3 years, being in England. They own the Post Office so it can offer most branch services, and the 365 online is fabulous, though adding payees or changing your phone number is a bit draconian.

Westpac Banking Corporation

Camomile Court, 23 Camomile St, London EC3A 7LL, UK – 020 7621 7000

Fantastic service! Staff were incredibly well informed, helpful and efficient. Having wasting considerable time trying to open an online account with another Australian bank, it was an absolute joy to find one that would do everything face to face. Thank you Westpac!

Excellent. Efficient and fast..

Bank of England

Threadneedle St, London EC2R 8AH, UK – 020 7601 4444

I am a pre 2017 pound coin. Those new kids took my job. Now, I feel worthless. Thanks to the nice folks at Bank of England for giving me a place in the museum. Not quite my old job, but haven't been put in a vending machine for ages!

I went to exchange some old twenty pound bills that went out of circulation and spent some time at the museum. It was time well spent. I enjoyed learning about the history of the bank, its architects, and was intrigued about how busy and crowded it was in the bank on the dividend day. A display of all the Bank of England notes was among my favorites, and of course who would refuse touching the real gold!

Excellent service today! Just moved over from HSBC and the staff who helped me with an internet card reader were fantastic. The branch itself has just been redone and looks great! Thank you!

I have bank account with Nationwide and I'm very happy with this branch ,very helpfully fast and easy,I recomended is very good branch.Regards Cristian Buzan!

Nationwide

1 Aldgate, London EC3N 1RE, UK – 0800 554 1284

I phoned up to ask about their policy in accepting old pound coins, the chap I guess called “Chris” was so friendly over the phone that not only I walked in but switched my current account after he explained how else I could gain. Everyone was friendly. I am glad to have them in the community. Branch manager is a cool chap too. All the best.

I visited the branch one morning without an appointment as some banking documents became known to me last minute, for an official application due that same afternoon. The representative who spoke with me was Tarkan, who was professional, helpful - a breathe of fresh air compared to other official and commercial personnels I've had to deal with that week. He helped produce as many documents as he could to meet my documentation requirements. I've just had a successful application outcome for the matter! Much thanks to Tarkan I'd say. :) The branch is super swish and you get served in a 'coffee shop' setting (can't remember but I think they did offer proper coffee, too!), very interesting banking style.

Local Chambers of Commerce for EC3N 4AA. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. Came to the Mayor of London Young entrepreneurs competition. The place is very nice and looks extremely professional. It is very well placed close to the City overlooking Tower Bridge and the River Thames. Would recommend a visit. Also the staff are very nice!

As far as halls go this is one of the best. Some people say architecturally it looks like something inappropriate but I fully disagree. The bloke who runs it seems pretty cool too. The bloke who used to run it seemed like a bit of a wally. All the staff here seem like cool, well branded individuals too. Would visit again.

Dental Surgeries

Smile Dental Care - Tower Hamlets

Harford Health Centre, 115 Harford Street, London E14 4FG, UK – 020 7001 1783

The practice was able to accommodate me same-day. Friendly staff and a professional consultation. Thanks!

Lovely practice, the staff are all very friendly... dentists are great at their job. I would definitely recommend this practice!

Finsbury Dental Care

5 London Wall Buildings, Finsbury Circus, London EC2M 5NS, UK – 020 7638 6556

Finsbury Dental Care is the best dentist practice I have ever visited (and I have been to many after knocking my front tooth out when I was younger). I first saw Gavin Seal in relation to potential root canal treatment and he was brilliant and extremely honest (and actually ended up saving me around £700 when other dentists has recommended other procedures due to his extensive knowledge and practical experience!). I then continued having routine treatment at the practice with Adam Clapp who is extremely skilled, gentle and thorough. Adam always takes care in explaining things and puts me at ease. Unlike other dentists, I never feel rushed through my appointment and he always happy to answer any questions (and is also always on time). Adam is again very honest and if I need a filling/ treatment he will explain exactly why. I have also emailed the reception a few times with questions and he will personally respond with advice. I don't usually write reviews but feel this dentist deserves it!

Adam Clapp is a experienced and talented dentist who takes professional pride in doing an excellent job. He has a reassuringly calm and personable manner. I know he would be great with a nervous client. Highly recommended.

Charles Landau Dentistry

6 Prebend St, Islington, London N1 8PT, UK – 020 7226 3424

Hadn't been to the dentist in a while so I was pretty apprehensive. I saw Sophie who was absolutely brilliant, all the staff make you feel incredibly welcome, they're so friendly that it is a pleasure to get a check up. I will now feel a lot more confident booking my next dentist appointment, couldn't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic dental practice, staff are wonderful, really helpful and friendly. They explained all the options clearly and really put me at ease.

Dentists

London City Dentists

10 Lloyd's Avenue, London, Tower Hill EC3N 3AX, UK – 020 7488 4445

Had not been to the dentist for years. Found these guys near my work, and they have been really great and accommodating. Talking me through the work I am having done and explaining what's what, great dentist, great music, great location, great assistants! Very recommended!

Despite my best efforts, I have had an increasing number of problems with my teeth over the past few years. With my latest bout of pain, I decided to have a number of intensive sessions to salvage my teeth and restore a bit of self confidence. Wayne and the team at London City Dentists spent hours fastidiously rectifying a number of problems with my teeth. All the time I was there I felt comfortable (almost falling asleep in the chair at some points) - completely at odds to my experiences at other dentists. Wayne has really transformed my mouth, and I couldn't recommend the practice more!

Angel Smile Dental Care - Islington Dentist

41 Islington High St, London N1 9LH, UK – 020 7837 3938

I had my top right wisdom tooth removed. I had really built up the procedure in my head as I have previously had wisdom teeth removed but only under general not local anaesthetic. I was visibly shaking and had lots of questions about the procedure but the team made me feel more at ease. The actual removal took literally 4 minutes and I didn’t feel a thing! If you need a wisdom tooth removed I would definitely recommend this surgery based upon my experience today.

I have TMD DISORDER which for any dentist it's hard to treat and I had previous problems with a number of dentist leaving me in pain. My first trip to Angle smiles was a pleasant one after explaining my circumstances with the receptionist. My hygienist treatment was excellent and this is the first time I can feel my teeth as I have had a thorough clean . Angle smiles is the best place to be with it's warm surroundings and friendly professional staff who have given me a head start on how to manage my disorder.

Chrysanth Dental Care

493 Cambridge Heath Rd, London E2 9BU, UK – 020 3620 1113

Great experience! I had an accident playing football and I needed an emergency visit. I got in touch on their website at 1am and they got back to me the following morning and booked me in for the afternoon. Dr David was incredibly nice and considerate: not only did he pushed my teeth straight again painlessly (they had bent inward), he also explained me the situation, showed me the x-ray he took and told me what all the possible future scenarios were. After two weeks I went back for a check and he told me everything was better than expected and I didn't need to take further actions at least for the time being.

Wow Wow Wow! Needed an urgent appointment this morning (22/01/18) as I cracked a tooth over the weekend and was seen almost immediately... The reviews on this dentist are correct. Absolutely Great! The warm welcoming l felt instantly from the lovely receptionist as soon as I entered the practise was comforting. She understood that I was in much pain and arranged an appointment immediately with Dr David. What a wonderful man he truly is. David explained the procedure clearly and confident. I was at ease instantly. His assistant was also very professional and efficient. I have found my future dentist for sure. Thank you kindly Chrysanth Dental Care :)

London Doctors Clinic - Private GP

Suite 127a, 9 Devonshire Square, London EC2M 4YF, UK – 020 8712 9378

Extremely friendly and reassuring. Very good value. saves the stress of making the phone call to your GP to be told you cant be seen for 10 days. will definitely recommend.

The entrance/location is challenging to find at first but the service and doctors are great.

London Doctors Clinic - Private GP

4.1, Alpha House, 100 Borough High St, London SE1 1LB, UK – 020 8712 9378

I visited London Bridge not long ago, as I was feeling extremely unwell in work. My GP had no same day appointments and suggested to call back the following morning, but I just could not leave it that long. I googled doctors local to me and this was the nearest to work. I saw the doctor within the 15 minute time slot, got my medication and felt much better by the end of the week. Amazing, convenient service, and great staff including the helpful receptionist who offered me water. Definitely a recommendation for friends/family within the busy City life. S. Jane

After 2 months of trying to get tests and good sense out of the NHS, and a lot of stress in the process, everything I needed was achieved in a single day by a lovely London Doctor. Such efficiency and such sound and caring advice was the most pleasant surprise to me. I wholeheartedly recommend them and will definitely use them again if I need to.

London Doctors Clinic

Room 101, 117 Waterloo Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 8UL, UK – 020 8712 9378

Very comfortable reception and office. Both times I've been here (once on a Saturday) the doctor actually listened, gave clear advice, and helped me with prescriptions and referrals, and to navigate how to get the further help I needed. They also stock certain basic prescriptions right there - eliminating the need for another stop at a pharmacy, which is helpful especially off-hours. Sometimes, it's worth it to invest a little for excellent service.

Good experience overall, good location. I was able to get an appointment quickly and Dr Aarti was very nice. Same day result for blood test which is great. Put a 4* and not 5 because I feel the price is quite high as compared to elsewhere.

National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery

Queen Square, London WC1N 3BG, UK – 020 3456 7890

Whilst were sleeping, the NHS is still running and Teresa May is a mug. What was a very distressing matter, the out of hours staff ,Bussy, Nosizo and Rindai were the most helpful members of staff. It was a very personal issue and each individual from their own department ensured I got to the right place. The NHS needs more employees like those mentioned. Cannot fault them.

spent about 2 weeks here just before Xmas following a stroke. staff were amazing as were the doctors. amazing experience.

Barts Health NHS Trust

The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Rd, London, Whitechapel E1 1BB, UK – 020 3416 5000

Fairly to say hospital are clean & nice as well as the physio therapist because I had to go for my physio every month twice I always had nice experience from them but down side is people who work at the reception they don’t have any smile on their face no greetings nothing. Sometimes they r busy amongst themselves to discus theirs personal issue while u staying on the queue. In their communication they don’t have few words which are , please, thanks. They need some training about how to provide a good customer service just a smile 😀 can bring this hospital top star

Very good hospital and research facility! Friendly staff and doctors, good service and the research part of the hospital is brilliant!

London Bridge Hospital

27 Tooley St, London SE1 2PR, UK – 020 7407 3100

A FANTASTIC hospital. I think it must be the best one I’ve ever been to. Had a minor procedure done, had a separate single occupancy room for the day. Very nice view, great a la Carter lunch, absolutely SUPERB nursing staff who were knowledgable and with great bedside manners. The procedure itself was expertly done! Highly recommended!

Find Local Churches & Places of Worship

Saint Etheldreda's Roman Catholic Church

14 Ely Pl, London EC1N 6RY, UK – 020 7405 1061

The place is very quite and warm. It has a 1:00pm mass during the weekdays which is good for working faithful Catholics. The entrance is not that noticeable as it is facing parallel with the road, new to the place won’t find it easily but just looked to the left and you will find the small door which lead to narrow hallway. Very solemn place of worship.

The best one in town for getting some decent sandwiches with cold milk!

St. Johns Church, Waterloo

A wonderful airy church right by waterloo station. very overwhelming. Great character, lovely to pop into and have a quick look around

A Church Commissioners' financed Classical Greek styled 1820's building with voluminous crypt. An active church restored and set in a noteworthy, well tended and unusual mosaic sculpture garden - quite the show. Forecourt hosts a food market on week days and the crypts are also put to use by various enterprises. Choir and musical concerts. A mural by the acclaimed religious artist, Hans Feibusch here.

This spot is fantastic, staff are very nice too.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around London

Tas Restaurant

33 The Cut, South Bank, London SE1 8LF, UK – 020 7928 2111

Great place! we've used Tas a couple of times for big team lunches and they've always been super helpful and accommodating. We've always really enjoyed the food and it's great value for money. Staff are super friendly and always happy to facilitate our needs. Thanks Cem and the team!

Prompt service, affordable prices and extensive menu. The food is okay. Not bad, not great. Just okay. One of the dishes I ordered arrived almost cold. The restaurant itself is quite big and around dinner time it was full and noisy. It's a good place for large groups.

Tas Restaurant

72 Borough High St, London SE1 1XF, UK – 020 7403 7200

Nice ambience and attentive staff. Guitarist was very entertaining. I was a bit disappointed in my food. Lamb stew was a served with much of the rendered fat as the gravy. A bit pricey for what it ultimately was.

We went out for a birthday meal last night and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance with live music and excellent service from both our waiters !

Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill Restaurant

2-4 Catherine St, London WC2B 5JY, UK – 020 7240 4999

Very good deal with voucher 30 percent off. Service good. My main of fish and chips nice but more batter than fish. A pleasurable experience though and scallop starter lovely.

Good quality food. Service was a bit slow, and had to remind the waitress/waiter to bring the drinks. Tip. Avoid early evening as this is when the theatre crowd dine. By 19.30 most have left. Later is better.

Nursery and Preschools

Old Church Nursery School

Walter Terrace Off, Bromley St, London E1 0RJ, UK – 020 7790 2824

Excellent nursery. Our son stayed only one year (Sept 2016 to July 2017). I cannot thank enough the teachers and all the staff for the amazing job they have done. Tips: applications to the nursery should be done once the child turns two. You should call to book a visit to the school. You will then be given all the necessary documents to fill out. Breakfast club (8:15-9:15) and afternoon club available (15:15-16:30, £3). Forest school every two weeks (I think), my child loved it!

Absolutely fantastic nursery. Amazing, dedicated, caring staff. So much for children to do. Cannot rate highly enough and Will be so sad when my son has to leave

Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool

Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School

339/341 City Rd, London EC1V 1LJ, UK – 020 7833 9388

My children attended this warm and inviting Nursery from when they were 5 months old. My son now 10 and daughter 5 experienced all the age groups. They have both turned out to be very socialable and academic individuals and I feel that credit goes to the long standing practitioners and professionals that my taught my children over those vital early years. The staff showed a clear commitment to the individual needs of my children with their loving and caring attitude and I believe this was the best start I could have given them. This Nursery was truly home from home.

Hopes and Dreams was the best start Molly and Charlie could have had, and for me, total peace of mind. Hopes and Dreams is professional, secure and offers a stimulating and loving environment. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Archbishop Sumner Church of England Primary School

Jubilee House, 2 Reedworth St, Lambeth, London SE11 4PE, UK – 020 7735 2781

My eldest daughter has attended this school from reception and I have been impressed by the dedication of the both the staff and governors. Music and sports provision with specialist teachers for a small primary is particularly good along with support for a range of abilities both those needing more basic support and those who need to be stretched. Only quibble is clarity and timeliness of communication; the school has both a mobile app and regular SMS updates in addition to a weekly newsletter however not always consistent and allowing sufficient time for working parents to plan. In general a welcoming and supportive environment for children, parents and staff.

Great support for kids who need it and great after school activities. It is a little small for 2 form classes though.

Rotherfield Primary School

Rotherfield St, Islington, London N1 3EE, UK – 020 7226 6620

I attended this school between 1961-1965 anybody remembered these year.. seems so long ago. I was Cheryl Smith back then, just get in touch if you remember

It was a very nice school I went there between 1962 till 1968

Crampton Primary School

23 A Iliffe St, London SE17 3QA, UK – 020 7735 2219

I had fun the teachers were really cool and fun. You should bring your child 2 this school and I think they will have a good time. I had been going 2 that 🏫 for ever and remember the last time I went there like it was yesterday. I have really good memories there and bad ones. My friends were the light of my world when I went there. I thank crampton 4 the school that I got into ( Grey Coat Hospital) and also how I have been able 2 make friends easily. THANK U CRAMPTON

Charterhouse Square School & Nursery

40 Charterhouse Square, London EC1M 6EA, UK – 020 7600 3805

Charterhouse Square School is founded by original headmistress Jamie Mason with school fees set at £425 per term! Over the course of the next two decades we go on to gain a reputation for all-round academic performance. In March the school becomes part of Cognita – a worldwide group of schools founded by Sir Chris Woodhead, former head of Ofsted. In December Caroline Lloyd takes over as headmistress fifteen years after first joining the school. When space becomes available in an adjacent building, the school expands to occupy a total of seven floors in our much-coveted Barbican location. This allows the school to add a dedicated Early Years area, a school library and an art room. n further work to improve the school site, the entire basement and ground floor of number 40 is completely remodelled. The addition of bi-folding glass doors to link our Green Room to its outdoor sand and water area is a particular hit with the children. Charterhouse Square School celebrates its 30-year anniversary with a surprise party for the children and a ball for parents, teachers and friends of the school. The school is also featured in The Good Schools Guide for the first time.

Rosemary Works School

1 Branch Pl, London N1 5PH, UK – 020 7739 3950

Both of our sons absolutely love going to school every morning. In the school's informal, friendly and flexible environment children do very well academically out of real interest and self confidence rather then simply a sense of discipline and obligation. Children are encouraged to think independently and creatively, and to voice their ideas, thoughts and opinions which will be heard and actually considered in matters ranging from lunch menu to learning subjects. Simply a great school.

My son has been at Rosemary Works School since nursery and is extremely happy there. It is a small school with a very nurturing and creative environment. The teachers are excellent and my son is developing a real love for learning. I couldn't recommend it enough!
